Re: The Danish cartoon - an American's view

I wish to clarify what I wrote. First of all, there may be political or social opinions that a cartoonist should NOT express. For example, racist opinions, which are evil. But my point is that there should not be LAWS against expressing them. There should be counter-opinions, and social pressure, but no laws. Secondly, regarding force: if a government is suppressing the right to free speech, it is probably wrongfully using force on the society. It is then justified that force be used to destroy that government and establish a new one - as is being done in Afghanistan and Iraq. (However, I do think there may be some unusual circumstances where a government should TEMPORARILY limit speech in order to establish order - as in Afghanistan and Iraq. But eventually, free speech should be allowed.)
